Autumn is dumpling season. For me, that means time for "bread dumplings." And no, that's not a typo, but the grammatically inevitable form in our family when several dumplings are made from several bread rolls. We follow the example of the Bavarian comedian Karl Valentin, and that's why it's written in my dad's handwritten recipe book: "Bread dumplings for 4 people, freely adapted from Karl Valentin."
